“I believe in the free enterprise system.”

“My candidacy is one that fits the district and fits the Mick Mulvaney-Jim DeMint philosophy.”

“My one issue in this country is to get on a firm financial footing. There's not much you can do if you're bankrupt.”

“I got into politics because businessmen should be spending your money.”

“What Washington desperately needs now are citizen legislators that are dedicated to leading a free people and to maintain our God-given right to the pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

“My views line up with Mick Mulvaney's views pretty much exactly.”

“I firmly believe that with President Trump in the White House, we have such a great opportunity as conservatives.”

“John Spratt did a great job of constituent service. When somebody had a problem, he would jump on it. The reason I ran against him was that he was one way in the district and then when he got to Washington, he voted the opposite.”

“Everybody's had their differences with President Trump. He's a polarizing president, but I think a majority of the people like what he's doing.”

“Our message of a balanced budget amendment, term limits to end career politicians, and a real plan to keep America safe is resonating with voters.”

“Business creates jobs; government does not. Government creates a whole slew of jobs each time a new program or scheme is implemented, but always at the expense of the taxpayer. Small businesses invest in new businesses, which results in more jobs.”

“I don't think I can sell to our voters in our district that there's nothing to cut in the federal budget. Nobody, I think, sees that or would agree with that.”

“I am a businessman.”

“Men aren't able to retire and are going bankrupt making alimony payments.”

“If you liked Mick Mulvaney's votes, you'll like my votes.”
