“You should respect yourself, respect your body and respect the people who look up to you”

“Young people follow him and he should be an example.”

“He's a footballer and they are heroes of the world.”

“His behaviour, drinking and all that stuff, it's not acceptable.”

“He has got an attitude where he is not like a footballer,”

“I needed to impose myself.”

“In the first half he [Gascoigne] was doing things, making things easier for his team- mates and I said 'man, this guy is going to kill us, I'm going to stop him'.”

“Gascoigne is a good player but he knows it's a hard game. I'm very aggressive, but I'm not dirty.”

“It was a fair tackle, when the referee gave me a yellow card it was unfair to me.”

“In England that's the way you play.”

“Most teams are scared of me, I dig in and work hard.”

“When I watch Paul Ince play I see myself”

“It is important that they have a player who can play that role and protect the team”

“Unless they have a good replacement, they would.”

“I'd day he is doing the same job as last season”

“With the role he plays, you can't really judge easily because he does his job silently but perfectly.”

“Most of the time, they have been harsh on him.”

“As you have said he was the victim of mistaken decisions from the officials.”

“Many referees don't understand the work of a destroyer and they tend to think that they are rough and in turn they punish them wrongly.”

“That's down to the hard work he does, and he does it very well.”
