“There's no bad feelings about what's happened in the past. I want to win cricket matches for South Africa, I want to win series for South Africa, and I'm pretty sure I've got 100% backing when it comes to that in our change room. It's nice to have him back.”

“I want our best opportunity to win matches and win series, and in order for that, you need to make tough calls on bringing people back, for instance. I was very keen to have him back,”

“The UK helped me a lot in perfecting that fuller length that every bowler wants to bowl. For me, it was quite difficult because it can come across floaty and I wasn't that consistent.”

“I know people will have mixed feelings about it, but at the end of the day, it's okay. You handle that and you deal with those pressures or the criticism that comes with that”

“It's massive series. They (India) haven't won here, so they want to come and win here and for us, we don't want that to happen.”

“It will be interesting to see what the nerves will be like but I'm sure, if I am selected to play, I think my nerves will be shot through the roof.”

“I'll have different feeling this time. will be different feelings. Maybe it might be similar to a debut because I haven't played for three years.”

“I am a nervous person when it comes to playing. Wherever I play I am always nervous. If it's my first over, I am very nervous,”

“Sometimes it’s good to just take a step back from it – people say it won’t affect you, but, at the end of the day, it does. I learnt to shut it out and it made me feel better.”

“Sometimes you need to just shut it out, but it’s difficult because today’s life is so social media-driven.”

“It’s never nice to get broken down, not one person likes it. When people don’t understand your situation, what you’re going through or what mental head space you’re in, it’s easy to say you’re not great”

“Obviously, it was taken out of context and I’m sorry if I offended anyone. I’m not the person I was four years ago; nobody understands the situation I was in four years ago and that’s fine. I’m different now and all my focus is on what I can do now.””

“People can take it out of context, but at the end of the day, if you sign Kolpak, it’s not like rugby – you give up your alliances here [to be seen as an English player on the county circuit] … that’s what Kolpak means”

“I accept that my Test career is over for South Africa but if I do well, hopefully in the future, I can play for England. You always need to put your mind to certain goals”
