“I knew it was just going to be a difficult road back, I see a lot of mothers out here daily and they just struggle to just get their body back or appreciate themselves again just because they feel so different and they look so different. So I’m happy that I was able to come back so quickly and show people that not only can I get fit but I can get back to world class performances.”

“He won’t remember this but he will see photos and see that you can do anything you put your mind to, I knew it was going to be hard to medal.”

“It just goes to show you how good our field is, Any one of those ladies at the trials could have been up here and made the podium but we were able to come out here and achieve our goals and we did the best we could. I’m so grateful to God that we were able to do that.”

“I can’t honestly remember the race, really, I do know that I hit quite a few hurdles, but I didn’t let that mess up my composure. I was able to continue to stay focused and make sure I got across that line, make sure I saw my name on top of that board. I’m so glad that God was able to guide me through that race. I couldn’t be more happy.”

“This is such a blessing and such a huge opportunity. If I am fortunate enough to make it on to the Worlds team, I will take advantage of it the best that I can.”

“My goal is to make the team, but again I am focused on running good races. I don’t try to put any times on myself. I am just trying to stay technically sound so I can do what I need to do at the USA Championships.”

“I didn’t actually start to watch them until I got to college and got a lot better. I’m not intimidated at all. I don’t think about my competitors. I try to do what I have to do, work hard, and just compete at my best.”

“I never ran track until I got to high school so I didn’t really know any of the big names until then.”

“My teammates were really happy for me after the race. They said, ‘You actually spoke those words and you broke the record.’ On Saturday, I didn’t think about trying to break the record again. I just wanted to go out and run a relaxed race and try not to press because I ran so well Thursday.”

“On Wednesday before the semifinals, I kept telling my teammates, ‘I’m going to break this record. I know I can run [that time]”

“I smashed my knee more times that I could even count, I fell so many times and got hurt so many times, but you get used to it.”

“I don’t see myself any different, I try to stay as humble as I can be, don’t let anything go to my head, and continue to work hard.”

“I had no interest in doing anything with other sports, to be honest. But I was always fast and had people telling me I should try out for the track team, so I decided to do it when I got to high school.”

“Before high school, I didn’t do anything.”
